A Mobile Plant Solution | Improving Goldmine Productivity

Machines: Terex Finlay J-1175 Jaw Crusher, C-1540 Cone Crusher, 693+ Screen & Tracked Feeder Unit
Location: Goldfields WA
Material: Gold Ore
Topic: Mobile plant upgrade

Problem:

Our client who operates a gold mine, sources ore from an open pit. Processing the ore occurs through a traditional crushing, milling and carbon-in-leach process. Consequently, their mill circuit struggled to operate at capacity, producing scat. Our client’s aim was to increase gold production through optimisation. After cost analysis, they concluded that upgrading the fixed crushing circuit would be expensive. As a result, they asked OPS Screening and Crushing Equipment to provide a solution.

Solution:

In order to address the issue presented, OPS provided a mobile crushing plant which included:
  1. A Terex Finlay J-1175 Jaw Crusher
  2. C-1540 Cone Crusher
  3. 693+ Screen
  4. And a Tracked Feeder

As a result of this simple mobile plant, our client was able to produce a smaller -16mm product either from ROM material or from the stockpiled mill scats. Due to the potential contamination of mill balls, we set the crushing circuit up with extra magnets and increased the sensitivity of the C-1540 factory fitted metal detector.

Outcomes:

A mobile plant in this instance provided much-needed flexibility to the operation and allowed greater portability and increased processing speed and capacity.

This resulted in:
  1. Production of smaller feed material.
  2. Increased gold production without any fixed plant upgrades.
  3. Reduced downtime.
  4. Greater mobility.
An auxiliary plant is also used in the event of necessary maintenance on the mobile plant. This ensures that production is stable with lower down times.
